JOEL BARDOLET & MARC HEREDIA:
NAKED SKY
The dialogue between this duo of performers is of a high level of complicity demonstrated on stage in recent years. Lately, the duo has worked on works of great relevance from the canonical repertoire for violin and piano, including sonatas by Brahms, Schubert, Bartók and Franck. They have done so without ever forgetting the music and musicians of their time, with whom they maintain a permanent and nourishing relationship that they understand as key to their artistic development. In addition, both musicians have shared an artistic project since 2016 with the Catalan cellist Pau Codina, the Fortuny Trio.
This first record by Bardolet i Heredia, The naked sky, reflects the duo's interest in the music of the moment, in meeting and engaging in dialogue with current authors and performers, many of whom are friends and confidants with whom they share more questions than answers and a sincere love for music. Bardolet and Heredia share their interest in facing, far from conventionalism, the challenges arising from the processes of creation and interpretation associated with contemporary music.
The current project stands out for the fact that two of the works included are commissions made by the duo themselves.: one is the work of Ramon Humet and the other, the composer's piece Helena CanovasOn the other hand, the duo has also recorded the Sonatina of Joan Magrané i Autumn tears of Josep Maria Guix, a work that the duo knows well and has already performed live several times. The album has an eminently contemporary and heritage repertoire, as it is all works written by Catalan composers.
